I was lucky enough to grow up at Eggleston Methodist under the guidance and love of so many wonderful people. Betty was such a big influence on me. At one point she was the choir director (maybe just of the youth - I can't remember) and for whatever reason, I was in the choir. As my children will tell you, I'm no singer but one nite after practice Betty stood and told the whole choir (probably only 7-8 kids) that I had a beautiful voice (soooo not true) and that someday I was going to be known for my singing. I still think of that and it still builds me up! Don't get me wrong - I still sing terribly but it meant so much to me to that she believed in me!
