Obituary of Matthew Norbert Kloeker Sr.

Matthew “Red” Norbert Kloeker Sr., age 89, of Independence, passed away on Saturday, August 19, 2017.

He was born to the late William and Josephine Kloeker on July 24, 1928 in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Red was a United States Navy Veteran who served in the Korean War and worked in operations and maintenance for Cincinnati Gas and Electric and was a member of IBEW.

He was a member of the American Legion Post #410, Catholic Order of Foresters and the Elks Lodge in Florence, KY. Red volunteered for the Southern Hills Fire Department and the VA Hospital.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Martha, sons, Jerry Kloeker and Matthew Kloeker Jr., sisters, Rose Mary Dearwester, Mary Lizetta Kloeker, Mary Jo Kiely and Mirella Fulmer, brothers, Rev. Jude Kloeker, William Kloeker, Mark “Corky” Kloeker and Cyril “Smokey” Kloeker.

Red is survived by his daughter, Mary Harthun (Terry); sons, Leonard Kloeker (Chris), Paul Kloeker (Dianne) and Terry Kloeker (Regina); sister, Natalie “Pudgie” Gosney; brothers, John “Mousey” Kloeker and Carroll Kloeker; grandchildren, Brian (Jessie), Andrew (Amanda), Kelly, Sam (Ann Marie), Charlie, Theresa (Robert), Joshua, Jeffrey and Jerry Mrozinski; and 2 great-granddaughters, Avary and Alexis.

A visitation for Red will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2017 from 9AM until 11AM at St. Patrick Church, 3285 Mills Rd, Covington, KY 41015.

Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11AM, also at the church. Interment will immediately follow at Mother of God Cemetery.
