Obituary of Dewey Curtis Parsons
Dewey Curtis Parsons, age 92, of Independence, passed away Friday, September 22, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Edgewood.
He was a retired Lighting and Fixture Engineer for Super X, a U.S. Navy WWII Veteran and a member of Nicholson Christian Church. Dewey enjoyed painting, cutting grass, fishing, hunting, biking, eating good food and spending time with his family. He was a skilled woodworker including building clocks, carving walking sticks, and many other things. He designed several homes including his own which he also built. Dewey was proud to have served his country in WWII and even wrote a book about his experiences.
His wife, Wavilyn Joyce Riley Parsons preceded him in death. He is survived by his children, Jeffrey Parsons (Janet) and Sharon Abrams (Greg); siblings, George Parsons, Naomi Collins, Jack Parsons, Terry Parsons, and Neal Parsons; grandchildren, Erica Vories, Curtis Parsons (Melanie), Taylor Abrams (Catherine), and Wesley Abrams; and great grandchildren, Caleb Vories, Joshua Vories, and Emma Parsons.
Visitation will be Tuesday, September 26, 2017 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home in Independence. His funeral service will be Thursday, September 28, 2017 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will be at Independence Cemetery.
