Obituary of Jack Wayne Gurley

     Jack Gurley, of Independence, KY passed away surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at the age of 86.

     He was born in Tampa, FL on May 27, 1931. Jack retired from management at Cincinnati Bell and was a Mason. He enjoyed vegetable gardening, working in his yard and loved the University of Kentucky basketball. His greatest joy, however, was spending time with his family.

     Jack was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Thelma Jean Gurley.

     He is survived by his devoted children, Jeffrey W. Gurley and Jacqueline and Reverend Patrick Murray; grandchildren, Jordan Murray, Joel (Kelcey) Murray and Jackson Murray; great-grandchildren, Jack Murray, Henry Murray and Mia Jean Lawler; as well as many other relatives and friends.

     A visitation for Jack will be held from 5:00 PM until the time of the Masonic Service at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home, Independence.

     A private burial will take place at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

     In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jack’s name may be given to the charity of the donor’s choice.
