Obituary of Deborah Smallwood

Deborah “Debbie” Sue Wilson Williams Smallwood, age 66, of Florence, was welcomed home on Friday, November 17, 2017 after a short diagnosis of lung cancer.

She was born on Easter Sunday, March 25, 1951, to William Allen Wilson and Margaret Virginia Ballinger Wilson in Glendale, Ohio.

She worked as a clerk for a local grocery store, Albertson’s in Florida, during her 12 years she lived there. Debbie enjoyed cooking and spending time outdoors, especially at the beach. She was dedicated to her family and would help take care of any of them at any time.

Debbie left us all too soon, but we know God had a better plan for her and called her home.

She is preceded in death by her brother, John Michael Wilson; son, Shannon Willis Williams; father, William Allen Wilson; step-father, Paul Mullins; grandparents, Charlie and Mattie Lou Mercer Ballinger; aunts, Helen Rose Crull, Charlotte Eveleen Highfill and Marlene Cheryl Wilson.

Debbie is survived by her mother, Margaret V. Mullins; sons, Michael Allen Williams and Shawn Paul Williams; daughters, Tammy Lee Prather (Tom) and Kelly Dineen Smallwood; grandchildren, Ava Williams Apodaca (Kory), Travis, Dalton and Cole Prather, Sarah and Ryan Williams, Josh Ramsey, Aundria and Jacob Williams and Elijah Casey; great-grandchildren, Sage, Trinity and Leo Apodaca, McKenzie Jones, Jaylon Williams, Braylon Ramsey; uncle, Aaron G. Ballinger; aunts, Carolyn Mae Ballinger Fields and Judy Ballinger Call.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday, November 27, 2017 from 11AM until 1PM at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home in Florence. A Memorial Service to honor Debbie’s life will begin at 1PM on Monday, November 27, 2017, also at the funeral home. Interment of cremated remains will immediately follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Ohio.
