Obituary of Donald Ray Merrell

Donald Ray Merrell, age 64, of Independence, KY, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 04, 2017, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was a former machinist for R.A. Jones in Crescent Springs, KY, and was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church. Don served as a volunteer firefighter for the Hebron Fire District and drove a school bus for Pendleton County Schools. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time outdoors, and being with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren.

Don is survived by his loving wife, Linda Kramer Merrell; children, William Craig Merrell, Scot Merrell, Kathryn Holland, Lisa Edwards, and Monica Helton; siblings, David Merrell, Michael Merrell, Diana Teeters, and Patricia Fredrick; grandchildren, Brittany Tanksley, David Edwards, Jacob Edwards, Austin Merrell, Nicholas Merrell, Kayte Merrell, and Alexander Merrell; great-grandson, Hunter Tanksley; and Elaine Connelly (mother of William Craig and Scot). He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Mary Merrell; son, Steven Merrell; brother, Johnny Merrell; and sisters, Connie Meyer, Alice Sebree, and Gloria Wilson.

Visitation will be Wednesday, December 6, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home in Independence, KY.  Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, December 7, at noon at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 5313 Madison Pike, Independence, KY. Internment will commence after Mass at Petersburg Cemetery in Petersburg, KY.
