Obituary of Donald Roland Rickards

Donald Roland Rickards Jr. age 64, of Cold Spring, KY, passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2017.

Don was born in Kairouan, Tunisia, to his missionary parents Donald Sr. and Margaret Rickards. He learned French in the 1^st and 2^nd grade. When he returned to the states, he spent his days traveling; eventually settling in Ft. Worth, TX, where he met his wife Betty. In 1994, Don transferred to Cincinnati to continue working as a CPA for Proctor & Gamble, where he retired. His passions included mountain climbing, backpacking, and traveling to new and exciting places. He spent his last days at Arden Court of Anderson, where he was loved and well cared for. Don is survived by his loving wife of 42 years Betty Rickards; daughters, Rachel (Han) and Valerie (Cameron); grandchildren, Sydney, Serena, Evie, Ellie, and Shelby.

A visitation for Don will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2017, at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home in Florence, KY, from 12 to 2 pm. Funeral services will follow at 2pm. Burial will take place at Hopeful Lutheran Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made payable to The University of Cincinnati Foundation in memory of Donald Rickards Jr. PO Box 19970 Cincinnati, OH 45219. All proceeds will go toward creating a scholarship for nurse aids who would like to become RN’s.
