Obituary of Leonard Liggett

Leonard Doyle Liggett, age 86, of Independence, passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at his residence. He was born on January 4, 1932 in Covington to the late Vivan and Mary Liggett.

Leonard was a United States Navy Veteran and was a member of the Masons Mayo Lodge #198. He retired from Formica Corporation as a boiler operator.

Leonard enjoyed listening to bluegrass music and considered “vacationing” as hunting and fishing.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth Liggett; brother, Sam Story and his parents.

Leonard is survived by his loving wife of 9 years, Bonnie Liggett; his beloved children, Mike Liggett (Terri), Steve Liggett, Daryl Liggett, Kelly Liggett, Timothy Seals, George Murray (Gladys), Leoda Grubb and Kenneth Murray (Della); brother, Norman Liggett; 31 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. The family of Leonard would like to thank Bluegrass Hospice for everything they did.

A visitation for Leonard will be held on Monday, February 26, 2018 from 9:30 AM until the time of the Funeral Service, 11:30 AM, at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home in Independence. Burial will immediately follow at Floral Hills Cemetery.
