Obituary of William "Bill" Allen Tomlin
William Allen “Bill” Tomlin, of Covington, KY passed away on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood, KY at the age of 90.
He was born in Covington, KY on July 13, 1927; the son of Eugene and Thelma Tomlin. Bill served our country during WWII in the United States Army and was a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church. He worked as a switchman for L&N Railroad, but also owned and operated Dud’s & Sud’s, a Laundromat and Tomlin’s Water Service. Bill also enjoyed working on his farm, fishing and hunting. His greatest joy, however, was spending time with his beloved family.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Carl Russell Tomlin.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Bessie Tomlin; children, Connie T. Austin, Dennis G. (Becky) Tomlin and Becky T. Beach; brother, Robert J. Tomlin; grandchildren, Zachery Austin, Ashley (Randall) Swink, Jesse (Abbi) Tomlin and Sarah Tomlin; great-grandchildren, Amari Austin, Lennox Austin, Isabella Swink, Noah Tomlin and Isaac Tomlin; as well as many other relatives and friends that mourn Bill’s loss and cherish the memories they made with him.
A visitation for Bill will take place from 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 PM on Friday, June 22, 2018 at Oak Ridge Baptist Church, 6056 Taylor Mill Road, Covington, KY 41015. Burial with military honors will immediately follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Taylor Mill, KY.
