Obituary of Lowell Douglas Evans
Lowell Douglas Evans Sr. of Independence, KY, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 20, 2018, at his home.
Lowell was born in Harlan, KY, to the late Elmer and Elitha Moore Evans. He was a retired assembly line worker for General Motors; and a member of the United Automobile Workers. In his free time Lowell enjoyed going to Red Barn, watching UK basketball, doing puzzle books, mowing grass, and cutting wood. He is preceded in death by his brothers, James, Dalton, Harold, and Ray Evans; sisters, Christine Walters, and Betty Farmer. Lowell is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Geraldine Evans; daughter, Sheila (Randy) Brown; son, Lowell Evans Jr., brothers, Sidney and Keith (Barbara) Evans; sisters, Sue (Roy) Wagers, Drenda (James) McCowan; grandchildren, Nathan (Sunny) Parr, Evan (Felicia) Parr, Chad, Jessica, Sawyer, and Dillon Evans, and their mother, Billie Sue; great grandchildren, Cayden and Adelynn Evans, and Teegan Parr.
A visitation for Lowell will be held on Wednesday, July 25, 2018, from 4 to 6 pm, at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home in Independence, KY. Funeral services will follow at 6 pm, at the funeral home. Memorial donations in Lowell’s name may be made payable to St. Elizabeth Hospice, 483 S Loop Road, Edgewood, KY, 41017
