Obituary of Shelvia Jean Engle

Shelvia Jean (Helton) Engle, age 75, of Independence, passed away suddenly on Sunday, July 22, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood.

She was born to the late, Clyde and Laura Helton, on March 2, 1943 in Barbourville, KY. Jean retired as a teacher from Batavia Elementary School and attended Immanuel Methodist Church in Lakeside Park, KY.

She enjoyed reading and researching her genealogy, shopping and never missing out on a sale, but her greatest joy was spending time with her beloved family and grandchildren. Jean was very involved with her church by helping with the Sarah Circle and Happy Loafers.

She will be dearly missed by her “Lunch Bunch” ladies, who she engaged with monthly. Jean is survived by her husband of 52 years Delbert Engle; daughter, Theresa (Mike) Baker and son, Mike Engle; grandchildren, Trey, Allison, Abby, and Trent Baker and Porter and Davis Engle.

A visitation for Jean will be held on Thursday, July 26, 2018 from 11AM until 1PM at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home in Independence. The Funeral Service will begin at 1PM.

Interment will be held privately at Highland Cemetery in Ft. Mitchell. Memorial donations, in lieu of flowers, are suggested to the American Cancer Society, 2808 Reading Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45206.
