Obituary of Phyllis Clifton

Phyllis G. Clifton (nee Lawson), 81, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on August 23, 2018. She was born June 21, 1937 in Corbin, Kentucky. Phyllis grew up in the hills of Whitley County and was very proud of her country roots. Phyllis was married to the love of her life, Bill Clifton and was married on October 3, 1953. They were soon blessed with three children. 

She was known for her love of family and never met a stranger. Phyllis and Bill opened their home to everyone and was always ready to feed anyone who came through their door.  

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bill Clifton of 63 years; her mother, Ivory Gerow; and a brother, Jimmy Lawson. She is survived by her son, Michael Clifton (Marla) of Richwood, KY; daughter, Pamela Davis (Stanley) of Morning View, KY; son, Bear Clifton (Franny) of Independence, KY; sister, Rose Dalton of Park Hills, KY; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Monday, August 27th from 10:00 am to Noon with funeral service immediately following at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051.  

Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell, KY.
