Obituary of Darlene Joy Davis
Darlene Joy Davis of Union passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood.
She was born on April 24, 1952 in Chicago, IL to Raymond and Virginia (Cook) Gruchalski.
Darlene is preceded in death by her father, Raymond Gruchalski and her brothers, Christopher Gruchalski and Scott Gruchalski. More importantly, she is survived by her adoring husband of 42 years, John Davis II; her loving children, Jennifer Bramley (Matt Foltz) and John Davis III (Jennifer); mother, Virginia Gruchalski; siblings, Larry Gruchalski, Sharee Brell and Janie Dispensa; grandchildren, Oliver, Christopher and J.C. and a thousand other friends and family who have been changed by her love.
She is survived by the roses she planted in the backyard where her grandchildren played softball.
She is survived by the far-away friends who traveled across the country to visit and play cornhole and drink cold beer, and more recently, to tell her how deeply they love her one more time.
She is survived by Ace, the border collie she adopted as a puppy and trained to whisper and shake hands. She is survived by a thousand paintings she created in the sunlight through her office window, on jars and rocks and vases, to be given to people she loved.
She is survived by the way she changed people with her unwavering kindness and warmth, the extra pot roast she always had plenty of incase someone stopped by, the fire pit she sat beside with her family and friends, the harmonica she couldn’t resist playing in the basement while she and the love of her life listened to their favorite music.
She is survived by her impact on everything and everyone she touched. She is, forever and always, survived.
