Obituary of Rev. James Edward Floyd

Rev. James Edward Floyd, age 90, of Florence, KY, went on to be with the Lord Saturday, November 17, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Edgewood, KY.  He retired after 43 years of service in various capacities as Secretary to the Vice President of CSX Railroad. Pastor Floyd humbly served as Pastor or Associate Pastor at several area churches, from 1968-2006, including Verona Full Gospel, Burlington Pentecostal, and most recently, at Community Pentecostal Church (now Community Family Church).  He also enjoyed water sports including swimming and diving, U.K. basketball, and spending time with his family. 

His son, Richard Floyd (2001) and sister, Betty Muldoon (2017), preceded him in death.  He is survived by his wife (of nearly 67 years), Jeanetta P. Stewart Floyd; children, Dorothy Renee’ Floyd, James Kelly Floyd, and Gary Dale Floyd; sister, Faye McIntosh, thirteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, including Robin Brown and Rhonda Ashcraft, whom he helped raise. 

His visitation will be Tuesday, November 20, 2018, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Community Family Church, 11875 Taylor Mill Rd., Independence, KY 41051.  His funeral service will be Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at 10 a.m. at the church.  Interment will be at Floral Hills Cemetery.
