Obituary of Simon Joseph Williams
Simon Joseph “Joe” Williams, of Burlington, KY passed away peacefully surrounded by his cherished family at The University of Cincinnati Hospital on Monday, December 10, 2018 at the age of 70.
He was born in Hazel Green, KY on October 18, 1948; the son of the late Chalmer and Louise Williams. Joe retired from GE as a tool maker in their aircraft engine division and had also served in the United States Army. He enjoyed fishing, camping, softball, pickle ball and tennis. Joe liked to hunt with his guns and bows and was a member of the NRA. He was also a Kentucky Colonel, a member of the Sarasota, FL Archery Club and a member of the Buckskin Bow Club. His greatest joy, however, was spending time with his beloved family.
Joe was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Gabbi Wilson; two sisters, Billie Sue Isaacs and Reva Reed and two brothers, Walter Williams and South Williams.
He is survived by his faithful and devoted wife of 44 years, Rica Williams; loving children, Simon J. (Daisy) Williams II, Amanda (Todd) Wilson and Brandi (Jay) Johnson; sister, Carmolida Hamblin; grandchildren, Taylor Wilson, Caleb Wilson, Levi Wilson, Breeann Johnson, Savannah Whitehead, Simon J. Williams III and Marcus Williams; as well as many other relatives and friends who will mourn Joe’s loss and cherish his memory.
A Gathering of Friends will take place from 2:00 PM until the time of the Memorial Service at 4:00 PM on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 45 North Main Street, Walton, KY 41094.
Memorials in Joe’s name may be given to the family c/o Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home in order to set up a memorial in his honor.
