Obituary of Douglas Bowling
Douglas Eugene “Doug” Bowling, of Independence, KY passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family listening to golden oldies in Louisville, KY on Friday, March 15, 2019 at the age of 72.
He was born in Altro, KY on January 8, 1947; the son of the late Elbern and Lila Bowling. Doug proudly served in the United States Air Force and was a member of Visalia Baptist Church. In his spare time, Doug enjoyed woodworking, collecting model trains and putting together 1950’s Chevy model cars. His greatest joy, however, came from spending time with his cherished family.
Doug was preceded in death by his faithful and devoted wife, Sandra Bowling and a brother, Gary Bowling.
He is survived by his two sons, Christopher Wayne (Sarah) Bowling and Robert Douglas “Bobby” (Caroline) Bowling; 10 grandchildren; half-sister, Beverlie (Paul) Riley; as well as many other relatives and friends who will mourn his loss and cherish his memory.
A visitation for Doug will take place from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest at Wilmington Cemetery in Demossville, KY with full military honors.
