Obituary of Charles Melvin Stewart
Charles Melvin “Chase” Stewart, age 83, of Morning View, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 21, 2019. He was born in Independence on October 4, 1935 to the late James Harvey and Annabelle Stewart.
Chase was a member of Piner Baptist Church, Bradford Masonic Lodge #123 and was a United States Airforce Veteran. He retired as a foreman from Spartan Construction and had formerly worked for Contractor’s Service Company. Chase enjoyed being outdoors, whether it was mowing or tinkering in his barn with his tractors. He was an avid UK Basketball fan and Simon Kenton supporter.
Chase is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Alberta Mann Stewart; brother, Howard Stewart; sister, Wanda “Babe” Iseral and nephew, Harold Stewart.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Rose Menefee Stewart; children, Cindy Shoemaker (Elery “Rusty”), Doug Stewart (Tammy) and Jayden Harmon; siblings, Margaret Kitts, Donna Fancher, John Stewart and Brenda Young; grandchildren, Kylie and Corey Shoemaker, Chase, Dylan and Clay Stewart and 9 great-grandchildren.
A visitation for Chase will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 from 10AM until 12PM at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home in Independence. A masonic service will begin prior to the service at 12PM.
Interment with Military Honors will immediately follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Memorial donations in Chase’s name are suggested to Piner Baptist Church, 15044 Madison Pike, Morning View, KY 41063.
