I remember Dorothy from the Bowles family reunions. She was always smiling or laughing, she just seemed to be a pleasant part of the reunions to me. Sorry for the families loss. I am a granddaughter of Edna Bowles Highley. Prayers for God’s comfort and peace.

Aunt Dorothy will forever be loved and cherished by family as well as those blessed enough to have known her. I can't imagine a season that embodies her essence more than spring, a sign of rebirth!

My Aunt Dorothy was the person who could smile through all the trials and tribulations the Pence's went through and had a knack of making everyone feel everything will be OK. She seemed to appear out of the blue when we needed her and I for one will never forget her. One of my fondest memories was when all the Pence's travelled to Mt. Sterling, Ky. to see her Mother. No one could make a better banana pudding from scratch than her and what a great time we all had as kids there. My father served in the Army and was away a lot when we were kids. Dorothy was always there to help my Mom get through it and drove her anywhere she wanted to go. She was a true friend to her and that is just how giving she was. My first taste of Pepsi Cola was when she brought a whole case over to my Grandmothers and let us kids have at it. Once, as a kid, I stayed the weekend at her home in Walton. I slept on the couch. I remember waking to the sound of her kitchen radio playing her favorite singer Jim Reeves and the sounds of Nat King Cole while she cooked breakfast. Bless her heart!
