Obituary of Jeanie Lee Winans

Jeanie Lee (Bagby) Knochelman Winans, age 92, of Morning View, passed away on Monday, April 29, 2019.

She was born on August 20, 1926 in Independence to the late, Harry and Sally (Hamilton) Bagby. Jeanie retired from the State of Kentucky Unemployment Office after 15+ years as a case worker and had previously worked at Whites Tower Elementary School as a cafeteria manager.  She was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic church and throughout her life she enjoyed traveling, sightseeing and going to the Independence and Walton Senior Centers and events.

Jeanie is preceded in death by her parents; first husband Bernard Knochelman; second husband, George Winans; sisters, Verna Courtney and Verda Bagby; brother, Robert Bagby and granddaughter, Jennifer Fossett. She is survived by her children, Carol Ansari, Alan Knochelman (Peggy), Steve Knochelman (Christine) and Robert Knochelman (Becky); grandchildren, Camron Ansari, Wayne Knochelman, Amy Groves, Angela Kirk, Amber Nguyen, Kayla Fisher and Amanda Knochelman and 11 great-grandchildren.

A visitation for Jeanie will be held on Friday, May 3, 2019 from 10AM until 12PM at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 5313 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 12PM, also at the church. Interment will immediately follow at St. Cecilia Cemetery.

Memorial donations in Jeanie’s name are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association, 644 Linn St # 1026, Cincinnati, OH 45203 or to St. Cecilia Building Fund.
