Obituary of Sara Mae Cavanah Clayton

Sara Mae Cavanah Clayton, age 92, of Independence, went on to be with the Lord, Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at Baptist Village Care Center in Erlanger, KY.  She was a former secretary for several churches including Southside Baptist in Covington, KY and a former substitute teacher.  Sara was a long-time member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church (51 years) where she served as a choir member and a Sunday School teacher for the Adult Ladies Class.  Her husband, Harold Ray Clayton preceded her in death in 2004. 

She is survived by her children, Doug Clayton (Jean), Danita Powell (Steve), Duane Clayton (Teresa), and Dwight Clayton (Cathy); siblings, June Hatley, Shirley Pace, Rebecca Clark (James), Gerald Cavanah (Ann), and George Cavanah (Brenda); grandchildren, Leslie Sams (Aaron), Matthew Powell (Beth), Kenneth Clayton (Kellyn), Brandon Powell (Cate), Eric Powell (Pearl), Mitchell Clayton (Laura), Taylor Clayton, Hannah Meredith (Evan), Kendall Clayton, Austin Clayton, Sara Beth Clayton, and Walker Clayton; twelve great-grandchildren and one almost here. 

Visitation will be Thursday, July 11, 2019 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051.  Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Hickory Grove Baptist Church, 11969 Taylor Mill Rd., Independence, KY 41051.  Interment will be at Independence Cemetery.
