Obituary of Robert Jacob Grubbs

     Robert Jacob “Bobby” Grubbs, of Independence, KY passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 1, 2019 at the vibrant age of only 21.

     He was born in Edgewood, KY on July 9, 1998; the son of caring parents Robert Ray and Linnetta Grubbs. Bobby grew up in Louisiana and then North Carolina, where he graduated with honors from Jacksonville High School. He was exceptionally gifted, enjoyed his academics and was part of the National Honor Society. Bobby’s life was basketball. He was an excellent player who earned a full scholarship after high school to attend and play at Chowan University in Murfreesboro, NC. He was a fun-loving person who could make friends with anyone and would give you the shirt off his back if you were ever in need. Bobby’s greatest joy, however, came from spending time with his beloved family that he cherished so much.

     He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Robert R. and Margaret Grubbs, Sr.

     Bobby is survived by his parents; brothers, Ethan (Ashley) Grubbs and Andrew Grubbs; maternal grandparents, Walter and Linda McIntosh; niece, Isobel Grubbs; as well as other relatives and friends who will mourn his sudden passing and cherish the memories he made with each of them.

     A Gathering of Friends will take place from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051. A Memorial Service will immediately follow at 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
