Harold used to play in our yard with my brother and all the Hebronite boys, u know who u are. My brother wouldn't let me play Ghost in the Graveyard at the Lutheran Church with him and the other kids. He was five years older than me and probably knew it wouldn't end well for him or me. He let Harold play and I ran to my mother and told her that Larry let Harold play, but not me. Knowing Harold was the same age as me, I was mad. Larry's reasoning was that "I was a girl." I think this was the first time he had ever called me that, " A GIRL. Loved Harold anyway, blessings to his family.

Dear Brenda and Family.
What a wonderful picture of Harold and that beautiful smile he has always had. I could go on and on about growing up next door and all of the childhood stuff we did, I will briefly however share one memory..
Harold and I, with a little help from his very handy dad, turned a small pipe into a homemade cannon. We stuffed it with nuts and bolts from the Dye garage, and using matches we took from my dad’s funeral home, managed to create an explosive so powerful that it ripped holes into and through a 55 gallon drum that was stored in Harold’s backyard. Well after several firings, and with each blast the cannon doing backflips, Mr Dye came outside and proceeded to squelch our attempt of further damaging that poor drum.
I have not seen you or Harold in years, but no doubt he was that outstanding husband and grandfather described in his obituary. Know that I will forever treasure that cannon memory and the many others!
With sincere condolences,
Doug Dickmann
