Obituary of Jerry Harris
Jerry Harris, age 68, of Florence, KY, went on to be with the Lord, October 4, 2019 at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood, KY. He was a Pipefitter for Local Union 392 for over 40 years and previously served on the Boone County Board of Education. Jerry loved the Lord Jesus Christ and served Him in many capacities over the years including as a member, Sunday School Director (over 30 years), and former Chairman of the Deacons at Hickory Grove Baptist Church, as well as serving as a Chaplain for the Kentucky Southern Baptist Church Disaster Relief Team. A graduate (1969) of Simon Kenton High School, Jerry also enjoyed sports, especially playing golf and he formerly coached in the Boone County Pee Wee Football League and Boone County Knothole Baseball League and refereed for Upward basketball & football at Hickory Grove. Another passion of Jerry’s was riding on his Harleys. Over the years, he had ridden in all 48 lower states in the U.S. Jerry treasured his family, especially his loving wife (of 51 years), Cynthia Lou Adams Harris. Other survivors include his beloved children, Diane Wilson (Charlie) and Steve Harris (Missy); mother, Dorothy Lee Plunkett Harris; siblings, Larry Harris (Gwen), Patricia Bach (Ken), and Judy Dominic (Dave); grandchildren, Samantha Patterson (Brice), Andrew Harris (Megan), Chase Wilson, Jantzen Harris, Aidan Harris, and Grayson Harris; and one great grandchild, Charlie Reece Patterson. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 8, 2019, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Hickory Grove Baptist Church, 11969 Taylor Mill Rd., Independence, KY 41051. Funeral service will be Wednesday, October 9, 2019, at 11 a.m. at the church. Interment will be at Floral Hills Cemetery in Taylor Mill, KY. Memorials may be made to the Hickory Grove Baptist Church Building Fund.
