Obituary of Wilfred "Bill" Gauck

Wilfred “Bill” Gauck, age 78, passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at UC Medical Center. 

Devoted husband to Jo Ann (Dorsey) Gauck for over 59 years. 

Loving father to Sandra Vetter (David), Terri Wodraska (David), Mary Jo Gleason (Matt), Vickie Eberhart, and Danielle Ryan (Adam).

A wonderful and loving grandpa to Julie and Nicole Vetter, AJ Wodraska (Racheal), Austin Wodraska (Kalen), Carl “CJ” Day (Tiffany Webster), Tori Day, Elizabeth Baker, Makenzie Eberhart, and Gracie Ryan.

Bill was born in Enochsburg, IN on Halloween, October 31^st, 1940 to Norbert and Frances (Kappes) Gauck.  He is survived by two brothers, Norbert Gauck and Robert Gauck, both of Kentucky and one sister, Shirley Gauck of Indiana.  He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jerome “Jiggs” Gauck and John Gauck.

Bill was an invaluable employee of Barkleys, Pleasant Electric, Cincinnati Electric, and finally Conrail.  He was an excellent electrician whose talent was amazing in that he could fix most anything in that field.

He enjoyed time with his family and especially his many grandkids.  He enjoyed rabbit hunting with various family members, tending to his farm and animals, and tinkering with various projects that people would come to him for help.

Bill never knew a stranger and was always willing to help anyone in need.  There was never a question that he couldn’t answer or a problem he couldn’t solve.

We will be celebrating the life of Bill with a visitation, mass and Christian burial at St. Cecilia Church, located at 5313 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051, on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon with the mass beginning at noon.
