Obituary of James Russell Wilson
James Russell “Russ” Wilson, of Union, KY passed away at his residence surrounded by his caring family on Thursday, October 24, 2019 at the age of 84.
He was born in Elmwood, OH on July 8, 1935; the son of the late Burlin and Mattie Wilson. Russ retired as a machinist from Ohio Knife Company and finished his work career as a property maintenance worker for the Boone County Fiscal Court. In his younger days, Russ enjoyed hunting and bowling. He was an avid farmer; taking care of cattle and raising tobacco all while working his full-time job. His greatest joy, however, came from being a family man and spending time with those he so deeply cared about.
Russ was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Norma Ruckel and Wilma Crow; and a brother, Clayton Wilson.
He is survived by his loving and faithful wife of 58 years, Edna Wilson; children, Deborah “Debbie” (Dan) Crone, Julie A. Adams and James M. (Jeanie) Wilson; sister, Alberta Mullins; brother, Charles E. Wilson; grandchildren, Preston Adams, Clayton Wilson, Danielle Crone and Jena Adams; great-granddaughter, Scarlett Adams; as well as many other relatives and friends who will mourn his passing and continue to share the memories he made with each and every one of them.
A visitation celebrating Russ’ life will be held from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home, 8461 Dixie Highway, Florence, KY 41042. A funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Russ will then be laid to rest at Big Bone Baptist Church Cemetery, 11035 Big Bone Church Road, Union, KY 41091.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Russ’ name may be made to the Big Bone Baptist Church Cemetery Fund (see address above).
