Obituary of Robert Leo Benton

Robert Leo Benton, age 84, of Sarasota, FL, formerly of Walton, KY, passed away Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at his residence in Sarasota.  He was a farmer and a member of First Baptist Church of Walton, KY.  Bob was an avid reader (especially westerns and history books), enjoyed square dancing, and loved spending time with his family.  His parents, Robert and Lucille Moore Benton, and sisters, Dorothy Cornelison and Betty Stambaugh preceded him in death.  He is survived by his wife (of 67 years), Gloria Jean Burden Benton; children, Kathy Ann Benton Courtney (Dennis) and Danny Benton (Vickie); sister, Edith Gabbard; grandchildren, Melissa Jean Bays (Rodney), Robert William Benton (Lafon), Ronald Scott Benton (Stacey), and Jeremy Wayne Courtney; and great grandchildren, Aubrey, Rebecca, Josie, Luke, Cooper, Abbie, and Danny.  Visitation will be Tuesday, November 19, 2019 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home in Walton, KY.  Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.  Interment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery in Dry Ridge, KY.  Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Walton, 47 South Main St., Walton, KY 41094.   For directions, to order a life tribute D.V.D., to order flowers, to leave a message of condolence or to share a memory, please visit www.chambersandgrubbs.com.
