Obituary of Roy Edwin Baird
Roy Edwin Baird, Jr. of Florence, KY was taken from this Earth unexpectedly at his residence on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at the age of 72.
He was born in Covington, KY on June 18, 1947, the son of the late Roy Sr. and Dorothy Baird. Roy was a proud veteran of the United States Army, having served his country during the Vietnam War and the Gulf War during Operation Desert Storm. He was also an esteemed member of the National Rifle Association and was a 32nd Degree Grand Master Mason. In his day to day life, Roy was a self-employed owner of his own mechanic business. He absolutely loved to work on vehicles, enjoyed tinkering around on cars and had a passion for working on computers. His deepest joy, however, came from spending time and creating memories with his devoted wife, children and grandchildren.
Surviving to keep Roy’s memory and legacy alive are his faithful and loving wife of 55 years, Patricia “Pat” Baird; children, Rhonda (Earl) Gross, Jeff (Dyanne) Baird and Kimberly “Kim” (Scott) Jump; grandchildren, Rebekah (Thomas) Flores, Victoria Schneider, Danielle Jump, Thomas Jump, Alyson Schneider, Christian Gross, Adam Schneider and Jonathan Jump; siblings, Sherry Wells and David Shepard; special friends and neighbors, Matt and Vicky Carson, as well as many other relatives and friends.
A visitation celebrating Roy’s life will take place from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home, 8461 Dixie Highway, Florence, KY 41042. In honor of his dedication to the Masons, a Masonic service will be held at 10:45 AM with a funeral service immediately following at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Roy will then be laid to rest with military honors at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North, 205 Eibeck Lane, Williamstown, KY 41097.
