Obituary of Melissa Ann Howell Back

     Melissa Howell Back, age 36, of Morning View, KY passed away suddenly on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at her residence.

     Melissa was devoted to helping others by working as a Next Steps Counselor at Dixie Heights High School in Edgewood, KY. She walked with faith as a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Independence, KY. Melissa genuinely cared about others, she did all that she could to see the best in people. She was one of the most compassionate people you could ever meet.  Melissa enjoyed spending time outdoors, whether it was camping, hiking, or working in the yard and she had a diverse taste in music. Most of all Melissa enjoyed spending time with her beloved children, family, and friends. Melissa was an extremely bright and intelligent woman who had a great passion for learning. She received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Northern Kentucky University graduating Cum Laude and was currently pursuing a double master’s in social work and psychology. She was truly a beautiful person inside and out.

     She is survived by her children, Dallas James Howell, Brooklyn Grace Howell, Eli Allen Back, and Sara Back; her parents, Anne Randall (Don) and Rick Lauderman (Barb); her siblings, Carrie Collett (Steve), Laura Gammon, Ashley Rabe (Justin), Rebecca Woodruff (Ryan), Richard Lauderman (Ashley), William Lauderman (Teron), and James Lauderman (Shayla); and special friends, Melissa Wills, Lindsey Mason, Kelly Scott-Spahr, and Justin and Lauren Cannon. 

     Visitation will be Sunday, March 15, 2020 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051.  The funeral service will be Monday, March 16, 2020 at 10 a.m. at Hickory Grove Baptist Church, 11969 Taylor Mill Rd., Independence, KY 41051.  Interment will be at Floral Hills Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to The Kentucky Coalition Against Domestic Violence, www.KCADV.org.
