Obituary of Kermit W. Ballmer

     Kermit William Ballmer, of Independence, KY, passed from this life into the presence of the Lord on Thursday, March 12th, 2020. He was born on June 28th, 1934 to Glenford W. and Henrietta (Peters) Ballmer. He was a loving husband and devoted father who loved his family. Kermit served honorably in the U.S. Army. He retired from U.S. Airways after 33 years of service. He was a member of the Erlanger United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Bradford Lodge123, Scottish Rite.

     Kermit was raised on a farm and often showed livestock at the county fair. He played football in school and was the Number One Fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes. Kermit loved and enjoyed all sports. He was instrumental in helping to start the Boone Co. PeeWee football program. He encouraged his children in all of their endeavors.

     He is survived by his wife, Wanda Works Ballmer, whom he married on July 1st, 1977, a brother, Paul Ballmer, and a sister, Virginia (Ballmer) Bernart. He is also survived by his children, Dr. Mark E. (Beth) Ballmer, Kevin Ballmer, and Beth Ann (Ballmer) (Melvin) Harris. Kermit is survived by two stepdaughters, Vicky Works and Kim Works and a stepson, Wayne Works. He is also survived by two step-grandsons, Bryan Works and Robert Works. He is survived by nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

     He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother-in-law, Michael Bernart; a son, Scott Ballmer; a daughter-in-law, Susan Ballmer; a grandson, Andrew Ballmer and a great-grandson, Oliver Ballmer.

     A visitation for Kermit will be held from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at Erlanger United Methodist Church, 31 Commonwealth Avenue, Erlanger, KY 41018. A funeral service will immediately follow at 12:00 PM at the church. Kermit will then be laid to rest with military honors at Independence Cemetery in Independence, KY. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Kermit may be made to Erlanger United Methodist Church (see address above).

     The family wishes to thank everyone who prayed for Kermit during his recent health struggles.
