Rebecca “Becky” Gibson Dettor, age 64, of Walton, KY, passed away unexpectedly at her residence on Thursday, March 19, 2020. Becky retired from being a substitute schoolteacher. In her spare time, she was very involved in Eastern Star. Becky was a past matron of Bradford star #493 and a dual member in Williamstown, KY, #301, where she held many appointments on a state level. Becky was a big UK sports fan, especially basketball. Becky will always be remembered for how much she truly cared for others, whether it was a visit or a phone call she was always checking in on her family and friends.
Becky is preceded in death by her parents, William and Norma Sue Gibson and her uncle, Robert “Bob” Gibson. Survivors include her loving husband of 31 years, William “Bill” Dettor, Jr.; beloved son, John William Dettor (Kim Gayheart); siblings, Charles “Chuck” William Gibson (Onecia), Thomas “Frank” Franklin Gibson (Lee Ann), and Brady “Ed” Edward Gibson (Marcy); a number of nieces and nephews who she adored dearly; as well as many other friends and family members who will mourn her loss and forever cherish her memory.
A gathering to celebrate Becky’s life will be held Saturday, June 19, 2021 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. with an Eastern Star service beginning at 5 p.m. at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051. She will be laid to rest at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Taylor Mill, KY. Expressions of sympathy can be made in Becky’s name to American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478 Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
