Obituary of Lillie Mae Sands
Lillie Mae Sands, of Independence, KY passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 24, 2020 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood, KY at the age of 82.
She was born in Piner, KY on October 5, 1938, the daughter of Otis and Myrtle Vance. Lillie spent her time as homemaker for her family and was a devoted member of Taylor Mill Pentecostal Church. In her free time, Lillie enjoyed cooking, reading the Bible and attending church.
She was recently preceded in death by her parents; her loving and faithful husband of 40 years, David E. Sands, who earlier passed away on October 2, 2020; four siblings, Junior Vance, Lawrence Vance, Jimmy Vance and Faye Boling and a step-son, David Sands. Those surviving to carry on Lillie’s legacy include her caring siblings, Russell (Tammy) Vance, Linda Williams and Carol (Ralph) Sparks; step-children, Brenda (Roger) Geiman, Saundra (Charles) Ball, Barbara Fox, Terry Sands, Keith Sands, Rebecca McMurray and Jesse (Darla) Sands; several step-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; her four legged and faithful friend, Pudgie the Pug; as well as many other close relatives and friends who will mourn her loss and cherish her memory.
A visitation for Lillie will be held from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051. A funeral service will immediately follow at 12:00 PM at the funeral home. Brother Chris Oliver will preside over the services. Due to the current Covid-19 state restrictions, occupancy will be limited to 50% of normal capacity while still encouraging 6 feet of social distancing and requiring the wearing of face masks. Lillie will be laid to rest at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 5336 Old Taylor Mill Rd, Taylor Mill, KY 41015.
