Obituary of Felix Eloy Chavez, Jr.

     Felix Eloy Chavez, Jr. of Independence, age 81, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood, KY. Felix was born in Mesita, Colorado to the late Felix and Josephina Chavez on January 17, 1939. Felix was a veteran having proudly served his country in the United States Army and after 40 years he retired as a horse trainer. Felix was very passionate about horse racing, he started as a jockey and eventually began training horses. He was also a member of St. Barbara Church in Erlanger, KY. Felix greatly enjoyed playing golf as well as getting together with friends to socialize and play cards. He will certainly be missed.

     In addition to his parents, Felix is preceded in death by his brothers, Tommy and Bonny; and sisters, Ramona and Ella. Survived to mourn his loss are his loving sons, Mark (Lorna) Chavez and Casey Chavez; sister, Mabel Gallegos; family friends Amy Coorey, Billy Borgemenke, and Kim Chapman; as well as many other good friends who will forever cherish his memory.

     In keeping Felix’s wishes, no formal services will be held at this time.
