Obituary of Ronald Lee Widener, Sr.
Ronald Lee Widener, Sr. of Warsaw, age 81, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 19, 2020 in his home. Ron was born in Pineville, KY on April 24, 1939 to the late Okes and Sophia Widener. Ron was a member of Paint Lick Baptist Church for almost 15 years and retired as a supervisor from General Motors. Ron was an avid UK fan although, he loved watching all sports. He also served as athletic director for BCPW football. He was an all-around family man who was very involved with his children and grandchildren, loved to attend their games and events, and will be missed dearly.
In addition to his parents, Ron is preceded in death by his first wife, Tommie Widener; brothers, Wayne, Melvin, and Roy F. Widener. Survived to mourn his loss is his loving wife of 23 years, Linda “Wink” Widener; children, Ronald Lee Widener, Jr. (Kara), Steven Roy Widener, Karen Widener Ridner (Tim), Kimberly Widener Clemons (Richard), Melissa Widener Vaughan (Billy), and Amy Widener Wong (Matt); siblings, Delta Lovins, Inez Carpenter, Freida Tackett, and Carson Widener; beloved grandchildren, Kelly Anne, Katelyn, Caleb, Nicholas, Sydney, Hannah, Robby, Matthew, Holly, Hunter, Sierra, and Savanna; great-grandchildren, Isaac, Austin, Addison, Ana, Elsa, Luke “Bear”, M.J., Maggie, Jaxon, Haygen, Charlotte, and one more on the way; as well as many other friends and family members who will cherish his memory.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 8461 Dixie Highway Florence, KY 41042. The funeral service will begin at 12:00 PM at the funeral home. Immediately following the service, Ron will be laid to rest at Hughes Chapel Cemetery in Union, KY. Due to Covid-19 state restrictions, occupancy will be limited to 50% while still enforcing 6 feet of social distancing and requiring the wearing of face masks.
