Obituary of Simon Peter Bihl III
Simon Peter Bihl III of Florence, age 85, passed away peacefully in his home and surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, December 27, 2020.
Pete was born in Covington, KY on July 16, 1935 to the late Hazel and Simon Peter Bihl II. He retired as a service technician from ABS Business Soulutions and was a veteran having very proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He was also a member of Heritage Fellowship for almost 20 years. Pete enjoyed fishing in his spare time and when he wasn’t fishing, he enjoyed watching the sports channel, especially baseball and UK basketball. Most of all, Pete loved spending time with his family and being an amazing grandpa. To many people he wasn’t “Pete” he was “grandpa”, even if they weren’t related by blood he always made you feel like you were. Many will remember Pete for always being there to lend a helping hand, whether it was donating to charity or just helping a friend, he was always glad to be there for someone. He also always went out of his way to thank other veterans for their service. Pete was a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather brother, and friend who will be missed beyond measure.
In addition to his parents, Pete is preceded in death by his sister, Jeanette Volpenhein. Survived to mourn his loss is his loving wife of 63 years, Jeanette Bihl; children, Simon Peter Bihl IV, Amy (Mark) Titre, Jody (Mark Vargas), and Shawn P. (Brandy) Bihl; beloved grandchildren, Andrew, Natalie, Justin, Rachel, Kyle, Simon V, Daniel, and Brandon; great-grandchildren, Michael, Cecilia, Ryan, Jaxon, Penelope, Alice, and Jude; siblings, David Bihl, Donny Bihl, and Judy Finnell; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other friends and relatives who will forever cherish his memory.
