Obituary of Laverne Holmes

Laverne Holmes, age 97, of Elsmere, KY, passed away Thursday, January 7, 2021 at Boone Springs Care Center in Union, KY.  She was a retired Secretary for Fairhaven Rescue Mission and a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Taylor Mill, KY.  Laverne was a good cook and seamstress.  In the past, she was involved with the Kenton County Homemakers, 4-H, the Republican Women’s Club, and was active in many local Republican election campaigns.  Most of her time though was devoted to her beloved family and church.  Her husband, Charles Edward Holmes; parents, Walter Leslie and Gertrude May Woods Dishon; and siblings, Edward Dishon, Opal Thornton, and Porter Dishon; all preceded her in death.  She is survived by her son, Charles Lynn Holmes and brother, Creston Dishon.  A graveside service for Laverne will be held Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at 12 noon at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Erlanger, KY.  Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home in Florence, KY is assisting the family with the arrangements.  Memorials may be made to the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 5235 Taylor Mill Rd., Taylor Mill, KY 41015 or Fairhaven Rescue Mission, 260 West Pike St., Covington, KY 41011.  For directions or to leave an online condolence for the family, please go to www.chambersandgrubbs.com.
