Obituary of Lucille Perry

     Lucille Perry of Florence, age 80, peacefully passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Florence, KY.

     Lucy was born in Independence, KY on July 3, 1940. She worked for the Federal Reserve until “retiring” for the first time to start her family and raise her two sons.  Her second career was in retail at the Florence Mall and in 1992 she retired to make sure she was available at a moment’s notice to care for her beloved grandchildren.  Lucy was full of life, bringing joy and laughter to everyone that had the pleasure of knowing her.  She loved gardening and created a beautiful park in her backyard known as Lucyland.  She loved her birds and kept them fed despite the squirrels!  But most of all, Lucy loved her family and will be missed beyond measure. 

     Lucy is preceded in death by her parents, William and Helen Blau Schoborg; Husband, Kenneth James Perry; Son, Roger Allen Perry; Brothers, Joe and Norb Schoborg; and Sisters, Mary Maus, Ret Eggleston, Dolores Bass, Carolyn Peddicord, Jinny Hessleman, Estelle Watts, and Vera Schmitt. Lucy is survived by her loving partner, best friend and caregiver, Jeff Thunberg; Son, Donnie Perry (April); Grandchildren, Connor and Kendall Perry; and Sisters, Martha Rogers and Cecilia (Ronald) Dennis; and many other friends and family members who will mourn her loss and cherish her memory.

     A visitation for Lucy will be held on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike Independence, KY. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM. Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, face masks are required, social distancing is strongly encouraged, and occupancy will be limited to 50% of capacity. Immediately following the service, Lucy will be laid to rest at Hopeful Lutheran Cemetery in Florence, KY.
