Obituary of Richard Lee Halpin

     Richard Lee Halpin of Independence, age 72, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 while surrounded by his loving family. Dick was born in Covington, KY on January 5, 1949 to the late James and Dorothy Halpin. Dick owned and operated J. Alan Gallery in Gatlinburg, TN until he retired in 2013. Dick had a great appreciation for art and design.  In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening and was very talented in making floral arrangements.

     In addition to his parents, Dick is preceded in death by his beloved partner of 44 years, Alan Gribbins and his sister-in-law, Donna Halpin. Survived to carry on his memory are his brothers, John Halpin and Jim Halpin of Taylor Mill, KY, Dennis Halpin of Hallettsville, TX, William Halpin of Irvine, CA; sisters, Mary Taney of Westchester, OH and Patricia Taney of Independence, KY; several nieces and nephews; as well as many other friends and relatives who will mourn his loss.

     In keeping Dick’s wishes, no formal services will be held at this time. Memorial donations can be made in Dick’s name to St. Elizabeth Hospice, 483 S Loop Rd, Edgewood, KY 41017. To share a memory or to leave an online condolence to his family, please visit the tribute wall tab above.
