Obituary of Hazel Menefee
Hazel Mae Belew Menefee, of Florence, KY went to her eternal rest at Rosedale Green in Covington, KY on Monday February 2nd, 2021 at the age of 90 glorious years. She was born in Grassy Creek, KY on April 16, 1930; the daughter of the late Ellick Robert Belew and Erma Hazel Wilson. Hazel was an industrious and hard-working woman who retired from a career in the security and service industries. She enjoyed puzzle books, needlepoint, and working on her farm. What she held most dear however were gatherings with family. Hazel especially loved to cook for her family and her banana pudding was a favorite.
Preceding Hazel in death were her parents; her husband Tilford Menefee, daughter Betty Elaine Menefee, son James “Jimmy” Menefee. Those left surviving to carry on Hazel’s memory include her loving children, Michael (Lek) Menefee, Ike (Mai) Menefee, Roger (Donna) Menefee, Gary (Linda) Menefee, Regina Weber, Becky (Mike) McNamee, Oma (Chris) Acree, Pam Menefee; her sister Betty Lee; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as two great-great grandchildren.
A visitation celebrating Hazel’s life will take place from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Monday, February 8, 2021 at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051. Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, face masks are required, social distancing is encouraged, and 50% capacity will be limited at the funeral home. A funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Hazel will be laid to rest following the funeral service at Gardnersville Cemetery, Gardnersville, KY. Expressions of sympathy may be made in Hazel’s name to either the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123, or to the American Heart Association, 300 S. Riverside Plaza, Ste 1200, Chicago, IL 60606-6637.
