Obituary of Harry Michael "Mike" Perkins
Harry Michael “Mike” Perkins, age 75, of Elsmere, KY passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at St Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood. He was born the son of the late Harvey and Ruby (Din) Perkins on October 12, 1945 in Covington, KY.
Mike loved to spend time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He and his wife, Colleen, liked spending time outdoors going camping and fishing. He was rarely seen without a ball cap on. He had a large collection and loved getting new ones, especially the different Navy ones. Mike served in the US Navy for 6 years. He was very proud of the time he spent serving our country. He loved to tell stories about the time he spent sailing the world on the USS Wasp and all the places he was able to visit. He was always humbled and honored each time someone said "Thank you for your service" Mike will be remembered for always trying to make people laugh and smile. He will be missed by so many including his dog, Buddy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Jeffrey Perkins; nephew, Dwayne Wilburn; brothers-in-law, Bill Hall, Herb Richardson, and Wilbert Walters.
He is survived by his loving wife, Colleen Perkins; children, Jeff (Blaise) Perkins, Alesia (David) Willett, and Michelle (Dave) Moore; grandchildren, Katie (Marcus) Wilson, Michael (Sullivan) Willett, Dustin (Catherine) Ramler, Dylan Ramler, Hailey Hodgson, and Hunter Hodgson; great grandchildren, Anthony Hernandez, Charlotte Wilson, Milo Willett, and Emmitt Willett; siblings, Mary Walters, Martha Hall and Bill McCardle; and niece Heidi Graves.
Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, face masks are required, social distancing is encouraged, and 60 % capacity will be limited at the funeral home.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 5, 2021 from 11:00AM until time of service at 1:00PM at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 8461 Dixie Hwy, Florence, KY 41042. Burial will follow at Hopeful Lutheran Cemetery.
