Obituary of James J. Cooper
James J. Cooper, age 70, of Florence, KY, passed away Sunday, March 7, 2021 at Select Specialty Hospital in Ft. Thomas, KY. He was a retired Account Executive for the Kentucky Enquirer, a member of the Covington Catholic Sports Hall of Fame, a member of the Northern Kentucky Sports Hall of Fame, and a Big Brother Alum. Jim was a member of the 1967 State runner-up Covington Catholic Boys Basketball Team. Later Jim coached at several area high schools including Simon Kenton, Walton Verona, Holmes, and Dixie Heights. Through the years, he enjoyed watching and following local high school sports, horse racing, tracking the stock market, a good practical joke, and spending time with his friends and family. His parents, James and Alice Collins Cooper preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, of 49 years, Nancy Beth Moore Cooper; daughters, Holly Spritzky (Tom) and Natalie, Pisacano (Dean); siblings, Gary Cooper (Carleta), Kelly Cooper, Casey Cooper (Terri), Connie Cooper, and Carol Cooper; and grandchildren, Brooke Spritzky and Avery Spritzky. Visitation will be Thursday, March 11, 2021 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. with the Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 6 p.m at St. Pius X Church, 348 Dudley Rd., Edgewood, KY 41017. Memorials may be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Cincinnati, 600 Dalton Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45203 in support of the Kenton County Boys Club.
