A big piece of Independence is now missing from our community. Love and prayers to you, Sue, and your family. We will miss Vic so much. He was a big part of our Independence family. He had a great smile! Strength to the family during this difficult time.

Sue and Family, Vic was our Scout Master Boy Scout Troop 35 at St, Johns Pike street Covington. He Taught my brothers, friends and myself a lot in the short time period being in the Scouts. I always admired him. In recent years saw and spoke with him a few times at Independence, Ky. Court house. He recalled the time my Scout Patrol of My brothers, young Vic and I were on a hike. Vic and my brother Dennis were stuck in a mud hole and he came to our rescue with the Fire Department .He was a very Great Guy Prayers for you all You have my Deepest Heartfelt Sympathy. Our sympathy and prayers to the family of Vic. He was a friend, mentor, employer, and inspiration to me. He always took time to talk, advise, and give his opinion. He will be missed by those who knew him and those who crashed his path as a true gentleman and great asset to the community.

Thoughts and prayers to the Ponzer family. I grew up next door to Vic and Sue and their young family on West 12th St in Covington long before the Independence days! Many sweet memories of Vic, Sue and family.
May he rest in peace!

This makes me really sad, the Ponzer family was my other family. They were a part of my life since I was 5 years old, there family owned resturant was my first job at 16, besides me doing the dishes on a step stool at the age of 5. I had the pleasure working along side of my Mom and my Aunt Ruth Ann Elbert, everyday until 1989 I graduated and started college, but even after then I was still there on a daily until they closed the resturant. Everybody was family there. I have alot of good childhood and adult memories with Vic and the entire Ponzer family. You will be missed Vic, rest easy Dad and Uncle Herbie will be waiting on you to drink a beer and talk sports.

My condolences to the family. This was a man that at some point knew someone in most families within Independence. He was a kind man and a gentle soul who always had a smile on his face, he was an absolute staple to Kenton County and our original much smaller town of Independence... I miss our phone calls when he would call our office (another County Office) and say young lady have a great day.. when he retired I missed those calls. I would see him periodically at a store and he was always still so kind reminded me of a sweet grandpa or an uncle would be even to a stranger. May he rest in peace in heaven.

Vic Ponzer was a Independence Staple. I have lived here 60 years, And always known Vic. He always had a smile and kind words to say to everyone he meet. I was in the same class in school with Mike. He is his father’s son. Even though he will be missed. Go rest on the mountain. Until we all meet again. Peace be with your family.
