Obituary of Junior Bell

     Hugh Donald Bell Jr. (known by family and friends as Junior) of Ryland Heights, KY passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 18, 2021.  He was surrounded by his loving family at the time of his passing.  He was 69 years old.  He was born in Covington, KY on October 6, 1951 and was the son of the late Hugh Donald and Letta Irene Bell. 

     Junior worked many years as an electrical draftsman and electrician and was also a longtime member of the Nicholson Christian Church in Independence, KY.  Junior enjoyed racing, working in his garage, riding his motorcycle, jamming out to classic rock n’ roll and even some country.  He enjoyed hosting loved ones at the house and grilling out for them.

     His greatest joy, however, was spending time with his family who he cherished deeply.  Junior was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, and friend who had a big heart and took care of all those he loved.  His friends and family are all emptier upon his passing. 

     Preceding Junior in death were his parents; one sister, Beverly Bell Taylor and one brother, Glenn C. Bell.  Those left surviving to carry on Junior’s legacy include his devoted and faithful wife of 23 years, Diane Shanklin Bell; his caring children, Heather Rose (Brian) Kephart, Katie Lynn Bell, and Ashley Marie (Joe) Braunwart; sister Janet Bell Beaver; grandchildren, Autumn Hornbeck, Jacob Simpson, Dominic Kephart, Brian Kephart, Ava Kephart, Joey Kephart, and Ellie Race; as well as many other close relatives and friends. 

     Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, face masks are required, social distancing is encouraged, and 60% capacity will be limited at the funeral home.

     A visitation celebrating the life of Junior will take place from 10:00 AM until 12:30 PM on Friday, April 23, 2021 at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home located at 11382 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051.  A service honoring his life will immediately follow at 12:30 PM at the funeral home.  Junior will then be laid to rest at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Taylor Mill, KY.

     In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Junior’s name may be made to Nicholson Christian Church located at 1970 Walton-Nicholson Road, Independence, KY 41051.
