Obituary of Douglas Lee Spiece, Sr.
Douglas Lee Spiece, Sr. of Florence, age 78, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 17, 2021 in the comfort of his own home. He was born in St. Louis, MI on February 15, 1943. Doug retired as a truck driver and was a veteran having proudly served his country in the United States Army. He spent most of his spare time camping, boating, and fishing. Doug was also a big fan of NASCAR and the UK Wildcats. He was a devoted husband, father, papaw, great-grandpa, and brother who will be missed beyond measure.
Survived to mourn his loss is his loving wife of 51 years, Linda Spiece; daughter, Michelle (Tony) Luster; son, Dave Spiece; son, Delbert (Sarah) Spiece; 12 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; brothers, John (Janet) Pokorney and Joe (Terri) Pokorney; sister, Sharon (Gordon) Peterson; and many other friends and family members who will forever cherish his memory. He is preceded in death by his mother, Maxine Pokorney; sister, Joyce Sparck; and brother, Jim Spiece.
A visitation will be held on Friday, May 21, 2021 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 8461 Dixie Highway, Florence, KY 41042. The funeral service will begin at 4:00 PM. Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, face masks are required, social distancing is encouraged, and 60% capacity will be limited at the funeral home. In honor of Doug’s wishes he will be cremated and laid to rest at the Veteran’s Cemetery North in Williamstown, KY on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at 1:00 PM. Memorial donations can be made in Doug’s name to the Veterans Cemetery North, 205 Eibeck Ln, Williamstown, KY 41097.
