Obituary of Butch Mayfield
Harold Wayne “Butch” Mayfield, Sr., age 74, of Union, KY, passed away on Sunday, May 16, 2021 at Lee Memorial Hospital in Ft. Myers, FL. He was a retired Facilities Maintenance Mechanic for Beckman Coulter, Inc., a U.S. Navy Veteran, a volunteer firefighter for Union, and a member of Big Bone Baptist Church. Butch also hauled water for many years around Boone County and made many friends while doing so. After his retirement, he and his wife of 53 years, Nancy Carol Houze Mayfield spent several winters in Florida, enjoying the warmer climate and spending time with family and friends who came to visit.
Butch’s parents, Orville John and Eddie Mae Haynes Mayfield and sister, Elizabeth Ann Mayfield, preceded him in death. Besides Nancy, he is survived by his son, Harold Wayne Mayfield, Jr.; siblings, John William Mayfield (Diane) and Rosemary Wiebell; grandchildren, Samuel Wayne Mayfield, Shannon Mae Mayfield, Stephen Boisvert, Sierra Blankenship (Nick); and great grandson, Remington Blankenship.
Visitation will be Monday, May 24, 2021 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Big Bone Baptist Church, 11036 Big Bone Church Rd., Union, KY 41091. The funeral service will be Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at 11 a.m. at the church. Interment will be at Big Bone Baptist Church Cemetery. Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, face masks are encouraged, social distancing is encouraged, and 60% capacity will be limited at the church. Memorials may be made to Big Bone Baptist Church.
