Obituary of Michael Lester Fulkerson
Michael Lester Fulkerson, age 55, passed unexpectedly on June 28, 2021, in Philadelphia. Michael was born and raised in Wyoming, Michigan, and spent most of his adult life in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Michael was a doer and expressed his enormous creative talents through his modern fabric bird mobiles, beautiful holiday window displays, and his inspired cooking. His siblings hoped every year that Michael would pick their names in the gift exchange as his homemade gifts were the most coveted. Michael loved living in the city with a large group of close friends. He walked and biked everywhere and had a daily step count that was legendary. Michael is survived by his parents Mary Lou and Gerald Fulkerson, his brother Tony, his sisters Terri (Mark) and Patty (Vibodh), his close friend Ozzie Perez, and his nieces (Bana, Sammy) and nephews (Benjamin, Zachary). Michael very much lived for the moment in his very full life. For years he used his cellphone to video what most would think is the daily mundane to produce amazing monthly 30-second shorts (a second a day). Those videos demonstrated how important it is to stop and appreciate the world around you every day. Michael was generous with his laugh, energy, and creative talents, and he left the world a better place. He will be forever missed. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Resource Exchange, a nonprofit for the creative reuse of valuable materials https://theresourceexchange.org/donate/. A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, July 26th 2021 at 2pm at the National Museum of American Jewish History in Philadelphia, PA.
