Obituary of J.B. McCubbin
James Burgess (J.B.) McCubbin, age 95, of Walton, KY went on to be with the Lord on Monday, July 5, 2021 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Florence, KY. He was a former Purchasing - Shipping Manager at Littleford Bros. where he worked for 49 years. He was also a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Walton, KY for over 70 years and served as a deacon for 65 years. J.B. married the love of his life, Ida Maxine McCubbin, on September 2, 1950 and enjoyed 70 years together. They both loved to travel with their son, daughter-in-law and grandsons throughout the country. J.B. loved meeting and talking with people wherever he went.
J.B. served in both World War 2 and the Korean war as a member of the Army Air Corps and then the United States Air Force. He left for the military after his Junior year in high school and returned to Walton Verona High School to graduate in 1947.
J.B. served on the Walton Verona Independent School Board for 16 years, including as chairman, and helped lead the effort to ensure that the school district remained an independent school district today.
Members of the family missing J.B. include his son Tim (Laura); grandsons, T.J. McCubbin (Lindsay) and Conner McCubbin (Katherine); and his brother-in-law, Floyd Humphrey. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ida Maxine McCubbin: parents, Roy and Lula Mae Ford McCubbin; sisters, Faye Morrisey and Mary Lousie Fornash; and brothers Leroy McCubbin and Eugene McCubbin.
Visitation will be on Friday, 7/23, from 5 pm - 7 pm and Saturday, 7/24, 9 am - 10 am at the Walton Baptist Church in Walton, KY. The funeral will take place on Saturday, at 10 am at the church. Internment will be at the Richwood Cemetery, Walton, KY. Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home in Walton, KY will be assisting the family.
