Obituary of William J. Gibbons
William J. “Bill” Gibbons, of Demossville, KY passed away after a brief illness on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood, KY at the glorious age of 91.
He was born in Mt Vernon, KY (Rock Castle County) on May 19, 1930; the son of the late H. Robert and Betty Gibbons. Bill had worked maintenance for Wadsworth Electric, but also enjoyed tending to his family farm. He was also a longtime member of Wilmington Baptist Church in Demossville, KY. In his spare time, Bill often enjoyed hunting, fishing, tending to his garden and woodworking. His greatest joy, however, came from spending time with his cherished family.
Preceding Bill in death were his parents; his loving wife, Dolores Gibbons and his sister, Margaret Thompson.
Those left surviving to carry on Bill’s legacy include his caring children, Randy (Tammy) Gibbons, Rob Gibbons, Nancy (Tony) Harp, Bill Gibbons, Lynda (Jerry) Buckler, Kathy (James) Rowe, Travis (Trish) Gibbons and Karri (Kelly) Runion; grandchildren, Julie, Erin, Scott, Kristian, Jared, Jason, Brandon, Benjamin, Erica, Bronson, Brian, Sarah, Kiley, Abby, Katie, Hanah, Ethen, Caleb and Eli; numerous greatgrandchildren; several good hunting dogs; as well as many other close relatives and friends who are now emptier upon his passing.
A visitation celebrating Bill’s life will take place from 12:00 PM until 1:15 PM on Friday, September 3, 2021 at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051. A funeral service will immediately follow at 1:15 PM at the funeral home. Bill will then be laid to rest beside his wife at Wilmington Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Bill’s name may be made to Wilmington Baptist Church, 15472 Madison Pike, Demossville, KY 41033.
