Obituary of Ray "Dumpy" Dalton

     Ray “Dumpy” Dalton, age 60, of Independence.KY passed away unexpectedly on September 4, 2021 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood. Dumpy was born the son of Raymond Dalton Sr. and Connie Dalton on December 9, 1960.

     Dumpy will be remembered for his great sense of humor and sarcastic wit. He worked as a truck driver for all his life, but was also a great mechanic. Dumpy could always be found with a cigar in his mouth or working out in the garage working on cars and various projects. He liked to ride motorcycles in his younger years and also enjoyed fishing. Dumpy often went to the dirt race track and loved to help Eli with his car. But Dumpy’s greatest joy was his family, especially his grandchildren whom he loved dearly.

     Dumpy was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Dalton Sr. and brother, Bernie Dalton.

     He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Patty (Ashcraft) Dalton; children, Amanda Johnson, Nicole Dalton (Travis), Eli Dalton (Alexis), Lacy Dalton, and Wendy Ewing; his mother, Connie (Ritter) Dalton; grandchildren, Alyssa, Ava, Hunter, Ariana, Brennen, Colton, Branson, Blakely, Levi, and one on the way; siblings, Larry Dalton, Betty Ann Hartman, Saprina Rowe, and Amy Eversole; many nieces and nephews; and best friends, Scott “Chicken” Williamson and Zach Hastings.

     Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 9, 2021 from 5:00PM until time of service at 7:00PM at 11382 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051. In keeping with Raymond’s wishes, he will be cremated.

     In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Dumpy’s name to the family to help with funeral and other ongoing expenses in c/o Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home. You may drop off or mail in donations at the address above or donate electronically by clicking the red button below.
