Obituary of Michael Winston Patton, Sr.

     Michael Winston Patton, Sr. of Taylor Mill, age 64, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at his home. Mike was born on July 5, 1957 in Cincinnati, OH.  He was a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church for 27 years and currently working for GE Aviation as a Lead Materials Planning & Execution Specialist. Mike attended Eastern Kentucky University where he earned his bachelors degree. During his summers at college, Mike took pride in being a camp counselor at Camp Webb. Mike truly was an avid sports fan. He loved to root for the UK Wildcats- no matter what sport they were playing. He was also a Cincinnati Reds and Bengals fan as well as a Taylor Mill Booster Youth Basketball Coach and even helped with baseball. Mike was very handy, he enjoyed some woodworking in his earlier years, and will be remembered by his family as the hard-working man he was. Most of all, Mike loved spending time with his family more than anything.

     He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Phyllis (nee Sebastian) Patton; beloved children, Michael Patton, Jr. and Laura Patton of Taylor Mill, KY; mother, Gurdeen Patton; siblings, Karen (Tom) Orcutt of Taylor Mill, KY and Eric (Kathy) Patton of Morning View, KY; brother and sister-in-law, Paul Sebastian of Jackson, KY and Dianne Sebastian of Taylor Mill, KY; many nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; several aunts and uncles; as well as many close friends and other relatives who will miss Mike beyond measure.

     He is preceded in death by his father, Buford Patton; brother, David Patton; grandparents, Eugene and Ida Patton and John Albert and Wavie Foster; mother and father-in-law, Henry and Mary Sebastian; and sister-in-law, Brenda Schadler.

     A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 16, 2021 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051. The funeral service will begin at 7:00 PM, immediately following the visitation. Brother Randy Wallace will officiate the service. Mike will be laid to rest on Friday, September 17, 2021 at 9:30 AM at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Taylor Mill, KY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Mike’s name to Oak Ridge Baptist Church, 6056 Taylor Mill Rd, Covington, KY 41015 or to Action Ministries food bank at 4375 Boron Ave, Covington, KY 41015.
