Obituary of Betty Marie Cheek

     Betty Marie Cheek, of Independence, KY passed away into the righteous arms of the Lord on Monday, September 20, 2021 at St. Elizabeth Hospice Center at the glorious age of 90 years young.

     She was academically gifted and was the valedictorian of her high school class. Betty went on to cherish her role as a homemaker and started a family with her beloved husband Orb Cheek. She was a longtime member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Independence, KY and often volunteered at the church. Betty also enjoyed volunteering at Regency Manor Nursing Home and liked to read and quilt. Her greatest joy, however, was spending time with her cherished family.

     Preceding Betty in death was her husband; parents; four brothers and two sisters.

     Those left surviving to carry on the wonderful memory of Betty include her loving children, Lueada (dec. Bill) Sellet, Jim (Désirée) Cheek, Becky Cheek, Don (Mary) Cheek, Karen (Denny) Elbert and Anne Cheek; sister, Ruth Moss; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; as well as many other relatives and friends who are now emptier upon her passing.

     A visitation celebrating Betty’s life will take place from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051. A funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Betty will then be laid to rest next to her devoted husband at Independence Cemetery.

     In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Betty’s name to St. Elizabeth Hospice, 1 Medical Village Drive, Edgewood, KY 41017.
